  • Inspection: We will closely check for any inconsistencies or defects and make necessary adjustments before cleaning your new decorative driveway
  • Site Survey: Our team will carry out an initial survey to assess the designated area for your new resin-bound surfacing
  • Design Selection: We will then discuss various aggregate colours and sizes to match your desired aesthetic
  • Groundworks: The existing surface will be removed to the required depth, and a compacted sub-base laid to provide a stable foundation
  • Edge Restraints: Edging is installed to contain the new resin-bound installation and ensure clean lines
  • Mixing: The selected aggregates are then forcefully combined with the resin to ensure a complete and even coating and then poured into the prepared base
  • Curing: Once evenly spread, we’ll allow the surface to cure, typically 4-6 hours, depending on weather conditions

The Benefits of Resin-Bound Surfacing

As resin-bound driveways are entirely porous, rainwater drains straight through without pooling, contributing to sustainable drainage systems (SuDS). The non-slip surface is highly resistant to cracking, fading or discolouration, and general wear and tear, making it suitable for high-traffic areas.

Homeowners can also benefit from the wide range of colours and textures available, which allows you to improve your property’s kerb appeal with a truly bespoke design. These surfaces are often made from natural and recycled materials, contributing to eco-friendly construction practices.

For clients looking for low-maintenance decorative driveways, resin-bound installations require minimal upkeep; occasional cleaning with a garden hose is usually sufficient to maintain its appearance.

Additional Considerations

Whilst the initial installation costs for resin-bound driveways can be higher than those of traditional surfaces, longevity and low maintenance can offset these costs over time. However, our contractors at Acorn Surfacing advise against planning the installation of a new driveway during wetter and colder months, as inclement weather can affect the curing process. It’s best scheduled during dry periods.

These high-end surfaces offer a durable, attractive, eco-friendly solution for modern homes throughout Gloucester, Bristol, Thornbury and the surrounding areas. They are also perfect for traditional properties as they mimic gravel driveways without losing or displacing stones during wet or windy conditions.
